Starting Strong Conference 2024

Starting Strong:
Supporting Language, Communication and Early Literacy
in Children Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
(Birth to 5).

In today’s fast-paced world, success depends upon effective communication and literacy skills.
This holds particularly true for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children. It is crucial that they receive effective and specially designed support in developing their language and literacy skills. This can be achieved through engaging educational methods, specialized reading practices, parent involvement, and innovative communication technologies. This family conference is designed to equip families with new tools, valuable insights, and a widened perspective, enabling them to empower and support their Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, child(ren) every step of the way.

THE POWER OF LANGUAGE, COMMUNICATION AND EARLY LITERACY
Language is the means by which we learn, build relationships, create connections with others, and succeed in life.  Together, we are committed to creating an informative, innovative, and interactive experience for both presenters and attendees. This experience aims to support progressive language development, communication skills, and literacy proficiency for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children.
